In my capacity as Governor of Gyeonggi Province, I must regretfully announce the postponement of the 2020 Korea Basic Income Fair that had been slated to commence on February 6.
The world has seen the onset of a new coronavirus originating from Wuhan in China. With confirmed cases in Korea, and amid growing public concern, the Korean government has raised its infectious disease alert level. Accordingly, as part of efforts to mitigate the transmission of this contagion, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government has made the decision to postpone the Korea Basic Income Fair that was originally scheduled to run from February 6 to 8. This decision was made after a series of deliberations in order to minimize the risk of spreading this infectious virus.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all participants at home and abroad who have already invested time and effort in preparations for a successful conference. At the same time, I offer sincere apologies for being unable to proceed with the event as planned along with my assurances that we remain fully committed to successfully holding the Korea Basic Income Fair at a more appropriate time in the near future.
Please allow me to reiterate that the fair is not canceled but merely postponed due to current circumstances. We will devote ourselves to the rescheduling of this important event after taking all possible measures to address current safety concerns.
